Staring at trees adds 5 years to your life

They say we all have to fulfil three major goals in life: having a child, writing a book and planting a tree. And in these times of green concern, planting a tree has pretty much sense not only to preserve the environment, but to preserve us as living specie.

According to a studio held with 3 144 elderly people by Tokyo Medical School, people who live in wide green areas and homes with natural light live 5 years more than residents of congested urban zones or areas with a degraded environment. The conclusion: staring at tress makes life longer.

Reasons are not explained, however, some facts can give us a clue:

  • Every tree is capable of producing 1.6 gallons of oxygen a day.
  • Another study in Japan says that walking in the woods for 30 minutes helps reduce the rate of cortisol (stress hormone) and enhances the immune system.
So whenever you have the chance to go to any green area, don’t forget to take a lot look and wink at those trees tops above, they might you some extra life to your life. It’s beautiful, pleasing and absolutely free.
